So... [08 Dec 2007|09:38am]

...do y'all want to start reading something else? Now that I'm starting to get the hang of my job, reading something semi-challenging seems like a good idea. Anyone up for it?

The Ending... [09 Mar 2006|11:46am]

[ mood | ditzy ]

This is perhaps a little premature, as the precedent set so far has been to go chapter by chapter...

BUT... both Belovedwarrior and I have finished the book and come to the same conclusion...

The ending is very strange.

The group's been dormant now for over a month, so hopefully everyone's finished the book by now and can comment about what they felt Chesterton's message was.

Tada! [17 Jan 2006|10:19pm]

I am going to take it upon myself to write the first Post With Substance. *chews fingernails nervously* As per the rules (see the user info page if you missed them [they're really not overly restrictive, I promise]), my thoughts are going under an lj-cut. I'm abbreviating The Man Who Was Thursday as TMWWT, because that just makes sense, and I'm noting which chapter I'm writing on so that you have fair warning about possible spoilers. I think this is a useful format.

So with that out of the way!

First Book [08 Jan 2006|02:25pm]

Huzzah! This livejournal book club is now up and running. I have picked out the first book. I thought it'd be a good choice because if you haven't read it, you should and if you have read it, it is one to read over again.

The Man Who Was Thursday
By: G.K. Chesterton

Here is an online version.

[Edit]: If you are planning on participating in this book, please leave a comment so we know. Thank you.

Devouring Words [06 Mar 2005|11:59pm]

Hullo! Welcome to our Literary Club. We're rather new around here so don't mind the dust and construction. The plan thusfar is to read a book (perhaps monthly?) then discuss it. Quite simple really.

I was rather shocked at the lack of something along these lines in the online communities. Perhaps I did not search hard or long enough, but no matter, we have our own community now!
